Attend Orientation
All first time students must attend orientation.
Students will be given information regarding orientation dates and times once their applications have been processed. There are multiple sessions to choose from prior to each semester.
Orientations last two to three hours and cover information about the college, programs, assessment testing, and registration.
Students receive their student ID number at orientation, which is needed to complete assessment exams and registration.
Take the COMPASS Assessment Exam
Most new students are required to take the COMPASS exam.
This test is to determine which level of classes a student must take. There is no charge for this exam.
New students will be given information about the Compass Exam at Orientation.
Students who have taken the ACT and scored an 18 in English, an 18 in Reading, and a 20 in Math do not have to take the COMPASS exam.
It is important to take the COMPASS exam seriously. Re-Examination is allowed in only a few circumstances and there is a fee to re-test. For information about the COMPASS and a practice exam, visit the Assessment Center's home page.
See an Advisor
Once students have attended orientation and taken the COMPASS exam, they can see an advisor to register for classes. During peak registration times, the advising centers on the Downtown and Southwest campuses hold walk-in hours, but to make an appointment contact:

Pay Tuition by Deadline

You must pay in full or make arrangements to pay by the deadline. Failure to pay by the deadline can result in being dropped from class.
