Students express concern over possible tuition hike
Students, faculty and staff members from the Jefferson Community & Technical College District expressed a wide-range of concerns about possible KCTCS tuition increases during a hearing held at Jefferson Community College on Jan. 28. Nine students and 12 faculty and staff members met with Ken Walker, KCTCS vice president of finance and facilities, in a forum that allowed those interested to both make statements regarding tuition and ask questions. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Tony Newberry, president of the college, and CEO of the Jefferson District. The hearing was open to all faculty, staff and students.

Carroll County donates $10,000 to college campus
In some ways the Carroll County Campus of Jefferson Community College is a victim of its own success. At 15 years old, the campus has maximized its space and stretched the limits of its resources. Yet college officials and the Carroll County Fiscal Court recognize that there is much more to be done and more people to reach. For that reason, the Fiscal Court voted in November to donate $10,000 to the campus. The check presentation will be made at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 at the campus in downtown Carrollton. |
